Frequently asked questions
Everything about the $50/month website service
These are the detailed questions clients ask after the first conversation — billing, support turnaround, hosting and security, content and accessibility, and what happens if you ever leave. For the shorter overview of our process, pricing, and domain-included approach, see the FAQ on the home page.
Billing & account
How the monthly service is charged and what happens around payments.
Is there a deposit to get started?
Yes. A one-time, non-refundable $100 deposit starts the project. It isn't an extra fee on top of the service — once your website launches into production, the deposit is applied as your first two months of the $50/month service, so your next payment isn't due until month three.
When does the $50/month billing start?
Your service period starts the day your website goes live in production, and the first two months are already covered by the $100 deposit. Everything before launch — consultation, planning, design, revisions, domain selection and registration, DNS and SSL setup — happens before that. Recurring monthly billing begins in month three.
Is there a setup fee or long-term contract?
There's no separate setup fee and no multi-year contract — only the one-time $100 deposit, which is credited toward your first two months after launch. After that the service runs month to month. You can cancel at any time by telling us in writing; the service stays active through the period you've already paid for. The deposit itself is non-refundable.
What payment methods do you accept, and can I be invoiced?
Most clients pay by card or bank transfer on an automatic monthly schedule, which is the simplest way to keep the account current. If your business requires a mailed or emailed invoice with terms, we can set that up — just tell us during onboarding so the account is configured that way from the start.
What happens if a payment fails or is late?
We reach out before anything changes. You'll get a reminder by email and, if we don't hear back, a phone call. Only after repeated non-payment does the site go dark, and a $100 reconnect fee applies to restore service. Nothing is deleted during that window — bringing the account current turns everything back on exactly as it was.
Will my monthly price go up?
Your rate stays where it is unless you ask for additional services, such as moving to the Professional tier or adding advanced SEO or PPC assistance. If a broad price change ever becomes necessary, existing clients get written notice well ahead of time.
Support & turnaround
How to reach a human and how fast changes actually happen.
Who do I contact when I need a change?
You contact us directly — the same people who built your site. There is no ticket queue, no offshore call center, and no chatbot in between. Email or call, describe what you want changed, and we handle it.
How quickly do small edits get done?
Small edits — a phone number, hours, a paragraph of text, swapping a photo, adding a staff member — are usually done the same business day, and almost always within one business day. Larger requests like a new page or a seasonal landing page typically take a few days depending on how quickly you get us the content.
Is there a limit on how many changes I can request?
Content edits aren't bundled into the monthly fee — requested work is billed at our standard rate of $175/hour with a 0.7-hour minimum, and we quote it before we start. Larger net-new development, like a full redesign, a custom booking or e-commerce system, or a second website, is scoped and quoted separately.
What are your support hours?
Regular business hours, Monday through Friday, Eastern time. Site-down emergencies are handled outside those hours because uptime monitoring alerts us automatically — we often know about an issue before you do.
Hosting, security & uptime
The infrastructure side that's included whether or not you think about it.
Where is my website hosted, and is hosting really included?
Hosting is included in the $50/month with no separate bill. Your site runs on modern managed infrastructure with a global content delivery network, so pages load quickly for visitors whether they're across town or across the country.
Is my site secured with HTTPS?
Yes. Every site we host gets an SSL certificate that renews automatically, so visitors always see the padlock and never a browser security warning. You don't have to buy, install, or renew anything.
What happens if the site goes down?
Uptime monitoring checks your site continuously and alerts us the moment it stops responding. Because we control the hosting stack, we can diagnose and fix problems directly rather than opening a ticket with a third-party host and waiting.
How do you protect against hacking and spam?
Your site is built without the plugin sprawl that makes most small-business sites easy targets. Server software is patched routinely, forms are protected with rate limiting and spam filtering, and administrative access is limited. If something ever did go wrong, restoring from a clean copy is our problem to solve, not yours.
Will my site work on phones and tablets?
Every site is designed mobile-first, because that's where most local searches happen. We test real layouts on phone, tablet, and desktop widths before launch — not just a shrunken desktop view.
Content, photos & accessibility
What we need from you, and what we handle ourselves.
What do you need from me to get started?
Less than you'd expect. A rough idea of the pages you want, your services and service area, your hours and contact details, and any photos or logo files you already have. If you don't have written copy, we draft it for you and you edit it — most clients find reacting to a draft far easier than starting from a blank page.
What if I don't have good photos of my business?
We work with what you have and fill gaps with high-quality licensed imagery that matches your industry, then optimize everything for fast loading. When real photos of your team, storefront, or completed work exist, we always prefer those — they convert better than stock — and you can send them to us any time to swap in.
Can I write or edit content myself?
Absolutely. Send us the text and we'll place it, format it, and make sure it reads well on every screen size. Many clients prefer this for service descriptions where they know the details best, and leave the page structure and SEO wording to us.
Are the sites you build accessible?
We build with accessibility fundamentals in place: semantic page structure, readable color contrast, keyboard-navigable menus, descriptive alternative text on images, visible focus states, and proper form labels. That helps visitors using screen readers or keyboards, and it also happens to be exactly what search engines reward.
Can you add a contact form, map, or online booking?
Contact forms and maps are standard and included. Booking, quoting, payment, and similar interactive tools are possible too — we'll scope what you need, tell you honestly whether it fits the standard service or needs a custom quote, and build it so it matches the rest of the site.
Changes & leaving
Straight answers on redesigns, transfers, and cancellation.
Can my site be redesigned later without starting over?
Yes. Businesses change — new services, new branding, a new location. Refreshes to layout, colors, and imagery are a normal part of a long-running account. A full ground-up rebuild is a separate conversation, and we'll be upfront about that before any work starts.
What happens to my site and domain if I cancel?
Because we own the website and the domain under the utility-style model that keeps the monthly cost at $50, they stay with us when the service ends. Your content is yours — text, photos, and logo files you provided are returned to you on request. We will not resell your exact business name to a competitor.
Can I buy the website and domain outright?
You're welcome to ask, and we'll consider it in writing. It isn't automatic: a completed site represents a significant investment of design and development time, so any buyout is priced at that time based on the work involved. If we agree, we transfer the domain and hand over the site files cleanly.
I already have a website. Can you take it over?
Often, yes. We'll review what exists, tell you honestly whether it's worth migrating or better rebuilt, and handle the move either way — including your existing domain if you own one. The $50/month minimum still applies once your site is live with us.
